Round 2 of the 2016 Club Championship took place today, October 2, 2016. The players were hoping for some dry conditions, but the light rain just wouldn't go away. Nevertheless, course conditions were good and played tough.
The first of four groups headed out at 8:12 AM. The first two groups encompassed the "A" Flight players. Then the last two pairings held the Championship Flight competitors.
The scores were tight in the Net Division, for the most part. Overall, the field was split between those that performed better than in Round 1 vs. worse.
For the third year in a row, Michael Brosh was crowned Club Champion. Early on, it appeared that his title would be in jeopardy, but things came together in the end, as he held off the field for back to back wins. Congratulations Mike!!!
At the conclusion of the tournament, the players convened in The Bunker for a hearty buffet dinner where trophies and prizes were awarded. A good time was had by all.
Each Round had a Closest-to-the-Pin contest. Hole No. 12 was the par 3 selected for Round 1. Mike Brosh was closest with a distance of 10' 9". Hole No. 5 was the par 3 selected for Round 2. Vic LaTorre was closest with a distance of 16' 0".
The following summarizes the winners and scores for this year's tournament. If a player was in contention for more than one trophy, the better place and tougher division took precedence.
